Article: REP. ALLEN ISSUES STATEMENT ON FISA REAUTHORIZATION, IMMUNITY FOR TELECOMMUNICATIONS COMPANIES

Rep. Thomas H. Allen, D-Maine (1st CD), issued the following statement:

U.S. Representative Tom Allen issued the following statement today concerning his intention to vote against H.R. 6304, legislation to amend the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 and provide immunity to telecommunications companies for their participation in the Bush Administration's warrantless wiretapping of American citizens:

"I will vote against this bill because it provides immunity to telecommunications companies for their involvement in warrantless domestic surveillance. Such immunity would effectively end the Maine PUC's case filed on behalf of Maine ...
