When Clevelander and legendary boxing impresario Don King took over this newspaper, he made one thing crystal clear to the publication's then-new management, advisers and staff. And that was that this venerable institution - celebrating its 90th anniversary - will look out for the best interests of African Americans - especially those who are the most vulnerable.

His mandates were and in his own words were:

"Be especially diligent to look out for the least among us without voice and give them a voice."

"Seek the TRUTH wherever it may be and without regard to race, creed, religion or national origin. And then, I want you to print it for all to see."
