Soul music reigns supreme at King Arts Gala

For its 21st Anniversary, the King Arts Complex displayed one of its most appreciated exhibits.

Black music was well represented as jazz, hip-hop, R&B, soul, rock and blues were heard at the King Arts Complex 21st Anniversary Gala on Saturday, May 17.

The event was headlined by national recording artist Dwele. The Michigan native performed songs from his first two albums "Subject" (2003) and "Some Kinda" (2005). He also gave fans a glimpse into his upcoming LP entitled "Soul Survivor."

While Dwele thrilled the crowd, local artists also proved that Columbus is a hotbed for musical talent.
