Article: IRS INCREASES 2008 STANDARD MILEAGE RATES PER SEN. COLEMAN'S REQUEST

The office of Sen. Norm Coleman, R-Minn., issued the following news release:

After calling on Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Commissioner Doug Shulman to increase the 2008 optional standard mileage rates to better reflect the higher cost of business, medical and moving related travel, Senator Norm Coleman today applauded the IRS' decision to increase the 2008 business rate from 50.5 cents per mile to 58.5 cents and the medical and moving rate of 19 cents a mile to 27 cents a mile. The new rates go into effect July 1.
