Docks may be moving out

An attorney for La Crosse Municipal Boat Harbor Inc. said his client is prepared to go to court if the city terminates the lease for the Isle La Plume Municipal Boat Dock.

City officials are gearing up to oust the corporation after it invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in improvements at the site.

"This is just a landlord determining they want to get rid of a tenant," said attorney Gerard O'Flaherty. "I don't think the city has a good legal reason to terminate the lease."

Municipal Boat Harbor has held the lease on the city-owned property since 1977 and has 19 years left on its second 25-year agreement.
