It's hard to listen, as I did recently, as a parent tells of their daughter's experiences with an eating disorder such as anorexia. You hear the terror and hopelessness as they describe watching their girl waste away day after day, seemingly impervious to their entreaties to eat What's equally depressing is hearing from experts that many more girls suffer from EDNOS-eating disorder not otherwise specified-practices such as chronic dieting and exercising and binge eating. Studies tell us the great majority of girls feel their body to be flawed, and document the toll this exacts from their self-esteem and sense of potential.
