Everyone hates affordable housing. People in quaint neighborhoods are afraid it will manifest as high-density, multi-level, shoddy apartments. People in wealthy neighborhoods believe affordable housing provides a headquarters for criminals and ne'er-do-wells to ogle their goods and children. City governments hate affordable housing because almost nothing is a larger pain in the ass to figure out.

But I think people who need affordable housing probably hate it the most. Sure, people are grateful for a shot at home ownership and a leg up in return for hard work. But there's more than enough propaganda about being wealthy and beautiful and a powerhouse consumer to make plenty of us feel like ...
