Article: Religious beliefs play a significant role in political participation

Washington, June 25 -- A new study by researchers at Baylor University has shown that religious beliefs play a more significant role than church attendance or religious traditions in political participation.

For the study, Robyn Driskell, Elizabeth Embry, and Larry Lyon, all from Baylor University, utilized data from the Baylor Religion Survey, one of the few nationally representative surveys to explore the effects of religious behaviours and beliefs on political participation

They found that religious beliefs affected political participation more than other measures of religious behaviour.
