By late this year Fletcher Allen Health Care will have a new name, although at this time what it will be is undetermined.
Public relations head Mike Noble said that whatever the new name eventually becomes, "we're going to retain Fletcher Allen."
The name change is the result of the medical center's desire to more closely link the hospital to the University of Vermont College of Medicine.
According to Noble, Fletcher Allen had surveys conducted by Monigle Associates of Denver. The surveys found that the name Fletcher Allen was well established.
