Oncology compounds comprise about one third of the development projects in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry (see Figure 1). The features of oncology projects, while not unique to this therapeutic area, do create unique challenges and opportunities in clinical study management. These clinical programs often have a number, if not the majority, of studies done with an open label design.
