WASP EXCEEDS BONE MARROW DRIVE EXPECTATIONS

The USS Wasp (LHD 1) Medical Department hosted a bone marrow donor drive June 16-18 and exceeded their goal by more than 1,000 registrations.

"We were approached by the [Department of Defense] Bone Marrow Donor Program Registration Drive coordinator and asked if we would support this drive," said Wasp General Medical Officer, Lt. Kasina Blevins.

The medical department conducted the drive at two locations -- the Norfolk Naval Station Navy Exchange (NEX) and aboard ship.
