Republicans on the House Natural Resources Committee issued the following news release:

Democrat Leaders led by San Francisco Rep. Nancy Pelosi today brought to the floor H.R. 6251, a bill that would require oil companies to produce oil and gas from existing leased lands that may have no oil and gas in them. If the companies do not accomplish this impossible feat, they will lose their leases.

The White House has issued a veto threat, saying, "This legislation would further increase gas prices that already exceed $4 per gallon." The bill is designed to distract public attention from the Democrat Leadership's opposition to leasing in 97 percent of federal offshore and 94 percent of federal ...
