The Scientific College of Beauty and Barbering at 326 Pearl St. closed Tuesday, and some of its students returned Wednesday to pick up classwork transcripts.
Owner Bruce Bennett of Madison said Wednesday he closed the downtown school Tuesday afternoon after its sale fell through. He had closed his Madison Cosmetology College in Madison on May 19.
Bennett said his two beauty colleges dosed because of "a series of events that started with us losing our accreditation with NACCAS (the National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences)" several months ago. They didn't think we were financially strong enough" and had turned down his appeals, Bennett said.
