Despite competing in the Triathlon World Championships in Vancouver, June 5 to 8 - not to mention the more than 50 triathlons he has raced in 17 years - Morris Shore doesn't consider himself a natural athlete. Instead, he calls himself a survivor. "It's about perseverance," says the 72-year-old native Montrealer. "I don't like to quit."
It's that doggedness that gave him, along with five others, the opportunity to represent Canada in the 70 to 74 age category at this year's World Championships. He won the qualifying race (1.5-km swim, 40-km cycle and 10-km run) last summer in Drummondville, Que., one of seven triathlons he competed in last year where he stood atop the podium. He doesn't ...
