Progress in Three Dimensions

There are three dimensions of progress in a software project. First, progress measurement must take into account the complexity of connections between features, qualities, people, tools, assets, and artifacts. Second, it is important to not just look at completed work. By plotting the work in progress in different stages, it is possible to identify bottlenecks in a production workflow. Third, it is wise to keep track of the pace at which the budget is being spent.
