House leaders intend to improve Reserve Component readiness.
The message is reaching the Hill. The House Armed Services subcommittee on readiness held a hearing in April with testimony from the Reserve Component chiefs of the Army and Air Force. The opening statements from the committee's leadership reflect a growing understanding of the challenges faced by the National Guard and Reserves.
Rep. Solomon Oritz (D-Texas), subcommittee chairman, opened the hearing stating: "The readiness of our Reserves and National Guard is a vital concern for this committee and the nation.
