Worldwide obesity is a growing problem and is driving the epidemic in type 2 diabetes. Large clinical trials have demonstrated that lifestyle modifications can significantly reduce diabetes risk. Attracting attention is the role of dairy foods in preventing obesity and diabetes.
The antiobesity effect of dietary calcium was first observed in a clinical trial studying the antihypertensive effects of dairy products in African-Americans.
