In a first reading, the two articles comprising the Special section "Qualitative Research to Inform Therapeutic Practice" seem to have little in common. The first, Vulvar Pain: A Phenomenological Study of Couples in Search of Effective Diagnosis and Treatment by Jennifer Connor, Bean Robinson, and Elizabeth Wieling (2008), examines a little known medical condition that may be affecting as many as 15% of women. The second, Shared Ancestry, Evolving Stories: Similar and Contrasting Life Experiences Described by Foreign Born and U.S. Born Latino Parents by Jose Ruben Parra-Cardona, David Cordova, Kendal Holtrop, Francisco Villarruel, and Elizabeth Wieling (2008), ...
