A nationwide survey of FDIC-insured depository institutions

A nationwide survey of FDIC-insured depository institutions to assess their efforts to serve unbanked and underbanked individuals and families will be conducted this spring by the FDIC. This survey is the first of its kind at the national level, the FDIC said.

"This is a critically important survey - one that should yield significant new insights about the opportunities for banks to meet the diverse financial needs of U.S. households," said FDIC Vice Chairman Martin J. Gruenberg.

Survey questionnaires will be sent to a probability sample of FDIC-insured institutions during the 2008 second quarter. Questions will focus on banks' financial education and outreach strategies; deposit, payment ...
