Sunday liquor sales are fine, but don't sell a car

If you're ready to buy a car from a local dealer today, you're out of luck.

Wisconsin state law prohibits the sale or purchase of a vehicle from a dealership on Sunday. That seems to be just fine with dealers and customers.

"We never hear any complaints," said Nathan Krause, sales manager at Sleepy Hollow Motors in Viroqua, Wis.

"Customers like to have a day where they can come and look at cars without us around," he said.

The law was passed in July 1959, and according to Gary Williams, president of the Wisconsin Automobile and Truck Association, there's a good reason the law has remained unchanged for nearly 50 years.
