The office of Sen. Orrin G. Hatch, R-Utah, issued the following news release:
Sens. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Kent Conrad (D-N.D.), co-chairmen of the Senate Tanker Caucus, today urged the Department of Defense and the Air Force to expedite the process of replacing the military's aging KC-135 tanker aircraft.
In a July 2 letter to Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Air Force Acting Secretary Michael Donley, Hatch and Conrad reiterated their respect for the General Accountability Office's decision two weeks ago to sustain Boeing's protest over the awarding of the KC-X aerial refueling tanker contract to Northrop Grumman Systems Corp.
