Kohl's Goes Solar

Kohl's solar program is the largest of any retailer in the nation, and by the end of next year, one-third of the energy used by the retailer's Hagerstown store will come from the sun.

"Six Maryland locations are expected to be completed in 2008," said Nzingha Thompson in the public relations department of Kohl's in Menomonee, Wise. All 16 Maryland stores are slated to convert to solar power by the end of 2009.

"The first tiles will be laid in July and work will continue throughout the year," said Thompson. "Currently the six Maryland locations are in the process of receiving permits, and we are unable to confirm which ones until the process is complete."
