David's Furniture Buys Maidstone

For the second time in four years, a central Pennsylvania-based furniture retailer has entered or expanded in the Hagerstown market.

Last August, Michael Martin doubled the number of stores in his Harrisburg-based David's Furniture & Interiors business by acquiring Maidstone Interiors in Hagerstown and Griffith & Bixler in Redding, Pa.

In 2004, Wolf Furniture in Bellwood, Pa., near Altoona, took over the 65,000 square feet in leased space once occupied by Home Company, a furniture store at Prime Outlets of Hagerstown. Wolf entered the Hagerstown market with the 1995 acquisition of Hi-Way Furniture on Leitersburg Pike.
