Hospitals should pay close attention for possible revision of methodology.
Executives of the country's nearly 3,530 acute-care hospitals that will be subject to the provisions of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' (CMS) FY 2009 acute inpatient prospective payment system (IPPS) notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) that will begin Oct. 1, 2008, will want to carefully review the NPRM to discern potential implications for their organizations. The final rule is due to be published in the Federal Register on approximately Aug. 1, 2008.
