Article: SECRETARY OF STATE REED AGAIN URGES POLICY CHANGE ON VOTER REGISTRATION DRIVES IN VA FACILITIES

The Washington state Secretary of State issued the following news release:

Secretary of State Sam Reed is continuing to urge the federal Department of Veterans Affairs to change its recent policy that prohibits VA staffers from assisting in voter registration drives and bars nonpartisan, nonprofit organizations, such as veterans groups, from conducting voter registration drives.

"The federal Department of Veterans Affairs should take affirmative, proactive steps to ensure that VA patients throughout the country are given the opportunity to register and to vote," said Reed, the state's chief elections officer.
