La Crosse Family Restaurant truly a family affair

For Baker "Chili" Sabani, restaurants and family have always been linked.

He is part of the third generation in his family in the restaurant business.

His grandfather immigrated from Macedonia in 1953 and a couple of years later opened up 'Round the Clock, a diner in Milwaukee. His father and other family members ran a barbecue restaurant in Chicago.

And on Jan. 29, 2007, Sabani - who has worked in restaurants his whole life - opened La Crosse Family Restaurant with his cousin, Agim Saliu.

It's one of nine family-style restaurants in his family, which Sabani, 33, said are all independently owned and operated.

"We're not a franchise or a corporation of anything," he said. "Just a family."
