Article: SENATE PASSES SEN. PRYOR MEASURE TO SUPPORT COMMUNITY PHARMACISTS, EMPOWER MEDICARE RECIPIENTS

The office of Sen. Mark Pryor, D-Ark., issued the following news release:

Senator Mark Pryor today applauded Senate passage of the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act, including a provision he championed that protects community pharmacies and consumers.

Pryor said the legislation ensures rural health care facilities and providers have the resources they need in order to deliver quality care within their communities. It also reverses a 10.6% payment cut to doctors who see Medicare patients. Other major provisions include stopping overpayments to private plans; improving outpatient services; and improving the Medicare Drug Benefit program.
