California Student Wins U.S. SJWP

Joyce Chai was named the 2008 winner of the U.S. Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP), a youth award for water-related science. Chai took the top prize for her project, which explored the cutting-edge topic of nanoparticles. Next, she will take her project to Stockholm, Sweden, where she will compete against other young scientists from around the globe for the international award.

Chai was selected at the national competition in Orlando, Fla., from 52 students representing 45 states and Puerto Rico.
