Article: Allahabad university loses control over MLN medical college

NEW DELHI, India, July 17 -- THE VERDICT is finally out and has gone against the Allahabad University. Moti Lal Nehru Medical College and its associated hospitals, including the Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital, would remain with the state government and neither the Central government and nor the Allahabad University would have any control over it henceforth.

A decision taken in this regard by the Union Government and the President of India has repealed the statutes concerned with the University of Allahabad Act, 2005, effecting the change of control. A communique bearing the news sent by the Centre on July 9, 2008, reached the university on July 15, 2008.
