The Clackamas County government issued the following news release:
The Clackamas County Board of Commissioners today unanimously approved sending to the voters a plan to form a Clackamas County Agricultural Extension Service and 4-H District. The territory in the proposed district includes all of Clackamas County except the City of Johnson City.
Since 2003, Clackamas County has provided federal timber funding to augment Extension's programs. The loss of the federal funding following fiscal year 2008-2009 will leave a major hole in the county's budget and will affect a number of its departments and partner programs - including the Extension Service.
