Projects are just another way to achieve organizational objectives-and should be managed as part of the overall investment portfolio.
PMI's The Standard for Portfolio Management says, "Both the operational and project aspects of an organization must be considered in portfolio management."
No statement could be truer.
Yet many organizations still make the mistake of focusing only on the portfolio management of projects. To be effective, however, portfolio management should encompass all the activities of an organization.
