The city of Cedar Rapids issued the following news release:
The Cedar Rapids Police Protective Association continues to solicit funds for Shop with a Cop. The concept of Shop with a Cop is simple. It is to fund the "Back to School" as well as the "Christmas" program in which children come to a local retail store and are allowed to purchase school supplies (i.e. notebooks, pens/pencils, colors, shoes) and at Christmas it allows kids to get gifts. With both programs, underprivileged children are paired with a police officer while shopping to allow children a positive interaction with the police.
