Imam Magid (vice-president USA, ISNA; executive director, ADAMS) and Dr. Sayyid M. Syeed were among some 200 religious leaders who met with Pope Benedict XVI during his recent visit. The interreligious meeting, organized by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and held on 17 Apr., was billed as "Peace Our Hope."
The approximately sixtymember Muslim American group included Asma Mirza (president, MSA-National), Farhanahz Ellis (interfaith director, ADAMS), Rizwan Jaka (president, ADAMS), and Saman Hussain (coordinator, 2007 Interfaith Unity Walk). On behalf of the group, Hussain presented the Pope with a Qur'an.
