* MELANOMA GENE DISCOVERED
Queensland, Australia - Researchers at the Queensland lnsitute of Medical Research (QIMR) say they have pinpointed a series of genetic variations that double the risk of developing melanoma, ABC News reports.
The study analyzed the DNA of more than 4,000 Australians to determine why people develop melanoma. Currently, QIMR says one in six Australians carry the gene. Researchers hope the findings will lead to the development of a test to indentify those at risk.
