[1] However, an effective treatment for this condition has not been established apart from the thrombolytic recombinant tissue plasminogen activator, which must be given within 3 h of stroke onset. [1] Gene transfer is an attractive method for the treatment of many central nervous system (CNS) disorders and ischemic stroke is a target of gene therapy. [2]
