Artistic Director Helgi Tomasson conceived of a New Works Festival to celebrate San Francisco Ballet's 75th anniversary. Ten premieres created by choreographers of ballet, contemporary and modern dance made their debuts over three consecutive evenings, April 22-24.

Watching 10 new works unfold back-to-back was revelatory. With one première, usually sandwiched between older works, the focus is on the nuts and bolts of the work itself and the contrast between present and past.
