Article: Conway comes out of retirement and wins

Tom Conway has been tuning A/Fuel Dragsters since 2003, but he had never driven one in competition. In fact, prior to his victory at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals, Conway hadn't driven anything since 1996.

"I just wanted to see what it was like," said Conway, who won 18 national events, two national championships, and eight Division 4 titles from 1987 to 1996 as a driver. "My cars were always blown back then, and the quickest I ever went was a 5.6-something, so to run 5.3s and 5.4s definitely seemed fast. But it was a blast, much more fun than a blown car."
