Religious fanatics
The Editor:
Re your column in the May issue ("Right-wing fanatics forge strong ties with Harper government"), for many readers the gut reaction might be to remove religion entirely from the public sphere: it's too dangerous to be part of public dialogue.
However, this action would quickly prove to be impossible. Our decisions, reactions and positions are informed by our own religious beliefs, whether that is Christian faith or faith in the free market.
Caricatures of certain groups are unhelpful. Painting everyone in a group with the same brush is not constructive in facilitating public dialogue. If our goal is to create an open, democratic space wherein all citizens can ...
