Passenger trains spark shrieks of joy among youngsters and talk of yesteryear among adults. For years, their mournful, passing whistles have been receding in the wake of America's love for the automobile.
But a comeback for travel by rail might be in order. In some parts of the country, passenger trains are returning as an alternative to the hassles of driving on busy highways. And Louisiana, not to be left out, is studying inter-city passenger trains between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
