New Delhi, July 29 -- Seventeen days after he defied death when he was impaled on an iron bar that pierced his liver, stomach and a lung, IT executive Supratim Dutta Tuesday walked out of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) - healthy and ready to carry on with life.

"His condition is very normal now and he is ready to go," said Biplab Mishra, the surgeon who led an eight-member team of doctors to operate upon the 23-year-old Dutta.

Describing the case as a "learning experience", Mishra said the possibility of an infection loomed but luckily no such problem was encountered.
