Rachel Barr McGee's father, Ed Barr, was the brother of William Faulkner's beloved "Mammy Callie." In August 2005, the ninety-threeyear-old Mrs. McGee shared with writer Ginger Rue her memories of life in Oxford, Mississippi with her Aunt Callie and "Mr. William."

GR: What are your childhood memories of Callie and William Faulkner?

RBM: Aunt Callie nursed the Faulkners. Dean and Mr. William Faulkner. He was about fourteen, and he would come every Sunday morning. The church bells would ring. You would know it was nine o'clock.
