Moravian violinist and composer Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst (1814-1865) is far less wellknown than the great Niccolò Paganini, a man he idolized and whose pieces he memorized and played before they were even published. But like the Italian virtuoso, Ernst was hailed as a master violinist throughout Europe and held in high esteem by such notables as Berlioz and Mendelssohn.
