The Public Health Service and the Department of Defense have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) allowing foras many as 200 Commissioned Corps mental health providers to be detailed to Military Treatment Facilities around the country. The providers will be psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, clinical social workers and psychiatric nurses. In an effort to respond to increasing demands for counseling, therapy and psychiatric. services, PHS Commissioned Corps officers assigned under the terms of the MOA would be detailed to the Army, Navy and Air Force. The MOA increases mental health services available to active duty service members, retirees, and their families.
