Rep. Tom Udall, D-N.M. (3rd CD), issued the following news release:
The House today passed the Paycheck Fairness Act, cosponsored by U.S. Representative Tom Udall, D-N.M., which would make it easier for employees to enforce laws against pay discrimination. The Act passed by a vote of 247 - 178.
"Women deserve equal pay for equal work," said Udall. "Over the last 45 years, the wage gap has narrowed by less than half a cent a year. At this rate, it would take roughly another 50 years before men and women reach equality. Women, their children, and our communities should not have to wait that long."
