HOWARD FRIEDLAND /AMERICAN NATIONAL AWARD OF EXCELLENCE
"My art tends to be loose and impressionistic, which probably has something to do with my music background," says 63-year-old Howard Friedland, who studied both at New York's High School for Music &C Art. "I like jazz, and that free expression finds its way into my painting."
Friedland also studied art at The Cooper Union before embarking on a career as a Madison Avenue art director. In 1972 he moved to Miami, where he worked for another ad agency, and rediscovered the desire to paint. While ...
