The Minnesota Department of Agriculture issued the following news release:
A rural Rochester area couple has been selected the July winners of the Minnesota Department of Agriculture's (MDA) monthly Good Farm Neighbor Award. Bridget and Dennis O'Neill operate a 100-head cow-calf operation in addition to growing chickens, turkeys, hogs and cattle.
Dennis O'Neill says they also raise crops on 500 acres - half of which is tillable and highly erodible.
"For this reason, we've implemented minimum tillage practices such as strip and contour tillage of the land," said O'Neill. He says they also make an effort to not disturb wetlands on their farm - especially in the spring when wildlife are ...
