This issue of Interpretation casts a retrospective look at a towering figure in twentieth-century biblical scholarship, Gerhard von Rad. It contains not only important articles describing his life as a German biblical scholar throughout the tumultuous times before, during, and after World War II, but also a translation of a previously unpublished sermon that illustrates his enduring legacy as a theologian of the church.
