Avioz analyzes David's dynastic oracle in 2 Samuel as it stands and then looks at the parallels and allusions to it in 1 Samuel, Kings, and Chronicles. (The text of 2 Samuel 7 is repeated almost verbatim in 1 Chronicles 17.) He subscribes to a very limited view of the Deuteronomistic History and regards 1 Samuel and Kings as separate works in that larger corpus. At the start I must caution that this is not a clearly written or organized book, and I am not always certain of A.'s views or why he holds them.
