The Irvine Police Department issued the following news release:
Irvine detectives have a Los Angeles man in custody in connection with a May 23, 2008 auto theft as a result of a DNA match.
Around 10:00 a.m. on May 23, 2008, the panel van was taken from the 6200 block of Irvine Blvd. The vehicle was owned by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and contained training signs, placards and hand tools. Later on the 23rd, the van was found abandoned just around the corner with several items missing from the vehicle.
The responding Irvine CSI personnel took DNA swabs of several areas in the vehicle that the suspect may have handled. Approximately two weeks ago, Irvine detectives were notified ...
