New Delhi, Aug. 15 -- Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Friday pledged to "take all possible steps" to strengthen the country's intelligence agencies and police forces.

Speaking from the Red Fort on India's independence day, the prime minister commended the security forces and intelligence agencies "for the dedication with which they are dealing with the problem (of terrorism) under difficult circumstances.
